Bob is correct as usual! Thats well dodgy. Mine was also frayed and catching on the housing near the carb. Got an OEM one and now fine.
How do you like those Grip Puppies? Just ordered some as getting white fingers due to the vibration when its really cold...

Yep it didn't feel dangerous just because it was snapping back ok and I kept doing it to test it just didn't seem to pull back enough. I was second guessing myself thinking maybe its just like that and I have gotten too used to riding the GS. The Grip Puppies are great but those are Oxford Fat grips under the grip puppies as well. They help with the vibes quite a bit, vibes seem to come and go on my bike, some days it will feel smooth and other days buzzing.
I need to order a new cable then but also need to address my starting issues. Think the next thing I will do is drain and remove the tanks then remove the exhaust and starter and take the starter motor apart.

Mine seems to vibrate more after i opened the engine for valves and chains etc. Will drain oil and have a look after 1000km. Or maybe some engine mounting bolts aren't tight enough...not sure!
Does it turn over if you short the starter relay? My starter relay died and I replaced it and now everything is fine.

I didn't try shorting the starter relay, I don't like doing it because of all the sparks. Will have a go with the tank off, I might have to take out the loom now depending on how bad the burnt wires are. Did you get a genuine Suzuki starter relay?

The Suzuki one was like 100 euros so I got a 30 euro one that looks identical. Probably isn't but its working now!

Grip Puppies definitely reduce the vibration! But they do make the grips very thick indeed...heated grips take a while to come through. Good improvement though. I used a squirt of WD40 to get them on over my Oxford heated grips.

They are good, I like thick grips as were used to them from when I rode a cruiser. I fitted mine using cables ties under the grip puppies.
